I have SO many pictures to show everyone! First, I’ll show my new sock for my SITM Pal. I think these are going MUCH better than the socks that I had started out making. I’m making the Monkey socks by Cookie.
I’m also working on Norberta on Knitty for my boyfriend. I was hoping to be able to get it to him tomorrow, but it’s not going to happen. I do, however, think it’s totally adorable and I know he’s going to love it!
Everyone and their mother has been working on the Mystery Stole 3. I am one of those many many people. I just finished Clue 3. It’s apparently 1/3 of the way done, and I absolutally love it!
I did my color swap today with Wendy and she gave me this great yarn and the pattern to make some dish cloths. I did the one that has “Born To Knit” written on it. I know you probably can’t see it too well, but it’s there and I think it’s adorable and it went so fast. I did it just tonight! It took maybe two hours, with breaks and while watching television. I was VERY impressed.
She also made me a pair of Monkey socks. She read on my blog that I hate DPNs so she decided to make me a pair of socks. I absolutally love them and it confirms that my SITM pal is going to LOVE the ones I make her!
Well, that’s all I’ve got for right now. I just wanted to get all of these pictures up here! Hope everyone has a good weekend. I’m so excited for this weekend. It’s officially my anniversary =) I’ll try to post pictures from the concert/trip. OH! That reminds me to charge my camera. I’ve got to get on that one!
So, I got my yarn for Victor’s Norberta today. I can’t wait to get started on it. I’m hoping to give it to him Saturday for our anniversary. We’re heading down to Richmond for a Less Than Jake concert =)
They’re a great band and I think everyone should go check them out. Any who, I think I’ll start this week’s posts off with a lovely list of things to do before we head down to the seedy parts of the good old V-A.
1. Get Norberta finished.
2. Get Sheldon finished.
3. Catch up on Clue 3 for MS3 [ lots of work already done, a little over half-way through the clue, but since she said clue 4 is going to be a long one, I want to make sure I’m ready! ]
4. Put away all my laundry =)
5. Get some more work done on my Monkey socks for my SITM pal!
Well, I think that’s really all I can get done this week, so I’ll make this a reasonable list to complete in about four days [ give or take an hour or two ]. Hopefully I’ll get to meet up with my color swap pal and hope she LOVES what I got her [ yay Wendy! ]
I think that’s about it for me. I should really be getting back to my knitting and such, since I have such a list to complete! Toodles =)

Well, I just wanted to stick this post in here about how I started knitting for the SITM contest! Officially, the first time I decided that I really wanted to knit, I was at a football game with my dad, brother and brother’s girlfriend. Looking back on it now, I realize how ridiculous it was to take knitting to a Redskins/Eagles game in November when you have 10th row tickets on the 50 yard line! Anyways, that was in November of ’04. I tried knitting something up around Christmastime that year, and nothing really came of it. It wasn’t until my 19th birthday [ January ’06 ] that my mom bought me yarn, needles, books and a class at Stitch DC [ GREAT store ]. When I started the class, I soon realized that I didn’t need to be in a Learn to Knit class because, for whatever reason, I was an incredibly gifted knitter [ not trying to be callous, but it’s what the teacher told me! ]. I soon started frequenting the yarn store so much that I was offered a job there that summer.
My very first completed project was technically a checkerboard scarf in pinks and purples from my beginner’s class, but I relish in the fact that only about a month and a half after learning to knit, I completed a fair isle tube top out of KnitScene. I don’t have the pictures right now — seeing as how I’m at the boyfriend’s place and all, but as soon as I do I’ll adjust the post to have pictures of both in here!
Anyways, that’s the story of how I learned to knit. Hope everyone found it at least a little amusing and maybe even a little interesting, but I sincerely doubt it. I’m still not going to bed yet, but I’m going to end this post here. Have a good night all!
Yes, I really do think that it’s become possible to “sweat your brains out.” It was so fucking hot today that I just wanted to lounge around in a sports bra and some Soffe shorts and not leave the house all day. Alas, staying over at the boyfriend’s house last night made that next to impossible since I had to get up and go back to my own house today — funny thing is, here I am back at his place writing up this post while he sleeps. Anyways, I had to get out of the nice air-conditioning to go to my sweltering black Volvo to make the trek back to my own abode — which is only about 10 minutes away, but STILL!
Anyways, I have ripped out my sock knitting because I’ve just become so infuriated with it! I’m not quite sure what to do with myself. I sat down to start knitting some more tonight, but I ripped out about an inch worth of work about 4 times and now I’m trying a new little cable-ish number, hoping that something may go right with this one. I have to post my deepest apologies to my SITM swap partner because I’m not quite sure what will come of my first ever pair of socks. I’m quite the perfectionist, but this is just crazy. I can’t seem to keep the pattern going properly and I’m picking up and dropping stitches all over the place, which is just NOT something I do, EVER! Anyways, I’ll persevere and get these stinking things done so I won’t be letting down my swap buddy [ who must still remain secret because the swap isn’t over yet, you sillies! ].
I hope that someone has heard of the band Less Than Jake [ who will now forever be referred to as LTJ ]. I’m not one for being able to classify types of music, so I’ll just go with a Punky/Alternative type band. I love them! I’m currently counting down the days until Victor and I will be heading down to Richmond to see their show at Toad’s Place [ great name, right? ]. I just saw them not too long ago at the 9:30 Club [ in Washington, DC for those who aren’t in the know ] and it’s just GREAT that I’ll be able to see them again so soon [ next Saturday, YAY! ].
Anyways, I wanted to stick a post up here, even if it wasn’t about knitting. I feel that with the heat wave going on right now, thinking about knitting anything will put me into a nice sweat. Hope everyone is keeping themselves cool! Take care =)
So, a few days ago I got an e-mail from my July Color Swap Partner [ Wendy ] and I just now figured out how to post the little surprise I got when I opened it! Well, I didn’t really find out, I just cheated and took it off of her blog =) Anyways, here it is:
But, other than that, there’s not too much to update anyone on! Well, actually, I take that back! Here is a picture of the socks that I’m making for my Sock It To Me Swap Partner [ I’d post her blog, but it’s a SECRET swap! =) ]:
Yes, I did try it on my foot, but only because it’s the only way to do it justice, not that you can really do it enough justice seeing it online and not seeing the cute little pattern running through it in circles! I got the pattern from PepperKnit.com [ check out the pattern! ] and I think it’s just fantastic! It’s relatively easy for me since I’m a beginning sock knitter. I’ve made a few mistakes, but I don’t think they’re anything that is totally obvious or makes the sock look ugly.
Okay, that’s all for today. I’ll probably post again today, or early tomorrow, but goodbye for now =)
So, I think that the Mystery Stole 3 group [ on yahoo! ] is by far the best thing that I’ve ever joined! I haven’t finished Clue #1 yet, but I still think it looks fantastic! I know I messed it up a little bit, but I thought to myself, “fuck it,” I really don’t care anymore because by the time I’m done no one will ever be able to notice. So, yeah, here’s how it looks so far [ so far as in more than halfway through Clue #1 ]:
So, other than that, my new KAL is doing really well and everyone should come check it out [ HERE! ] and join. Everyone knows that there is something that’s on Knitty.com that they want to knit, but they don’t have a real reason to do it because of all the other projects they have going, but now you finally have a reason to do it.
Well, other than that, I don’t really have much to talk about. I’m just hanging out with the boyfriend right now, so I think I’ll get back to that. He’s falling asleep because I’m not paying attention to him. What a baby! But what can I say? I love him to death! Who wouldn’t love this guy:
Alrighty, I’m going to get going. Talk to you guys again soon! I think I’m also going to get back to working on my Mystery Stole 3! Goodnite guys =)

So, it has taken me forever, but I have finally gotten around to sticking up some pictures of my projects that I just can’t seem to get finished! First, there is my very first sweater that I’ve ever made that I used some junk yarn with and I didn’t do any shaping because I wanted to learn how to do everything that making a sweater entails and not have to worry about making a piece of shit with nice and expensive yarn.
See why I think it’s ugly? Anyways, I also can’t seem to get into finishing this cute little pattern off of knitty that I had been talking about. I started it, I think it’s great, but now I just don’t know. I’m not a big one on lace, so tell me what you think:
I was hoping that someone could steer me in the right direction while looking for a yarn store in the Miami area. If you do, just shoot me an e-mail or leave a comment!
Alright, well that’s all I really have time for right now. It’s time for me to get back to The Starter Wife [ Debra Messing Rocks ]. Goodye for now =)
